Hawkeye Labor Council Launches ‘All Call #2’!
Pulling together to clean-up homes devastated in the flood.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – It’s ‘All Call #2’ for Cedar Rapids!
Organized Labor, Community Organizations, and Businesses (near and far!) are being asked to come together the weekend of Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13 in a second coordinated clean-up effort. For many of the flood victims in our community, the mucking and hauling feels like an insurmountable task. Now is the time to come together to help each other out side by side in the devastated areas.
“With the solid and quick response of area media the first ‘All Call’ went out on Thursday, June 26. Within 48 hours 320 volunteers answered the ‘All Call’, and 70 homes were touched in 18 hours by these motivated and caring volunteers who provided the labor and friendship needed at such a crucial time,” related Susie Weinacht, Hawkeye Labor Council.
“Those homes that have not received proper attention following this natural disaster are deteriorating very quickly. Mold, corrosion, and the make-up of the water are causing the deterioration to be sped up. ALL are needed to come together in support of our fellow Cedar Rapidians. TOGETHER we are moving forward!” said Justin Shields, Hawkeye Labor Council President and City Councilman.
Together we continue moving forward:
